History

The history of Stapp AB begins with the entrepreneur Gerth Moberg, who at the end of the 1980s founded Stål och Apparatbyggnad i Tjust AB, which later became Stapp AB.

With a long background in industrial manufacturing and a passion for technical solutions, Gerth began developing innovative products for the shooting industry.

In the early 1990s, the business took a new direction when he began manufacturing bullet traps for the Swedish Armed Forces. By combining technical expertise with environmental responsibility, he developed a completely new type of bullet trap that was both safer and reduced lead emissions into the soil.

In 1995, Gerth Moberg was granted a patent for what is now known as the STAPP® Environmental Bullet Trap – a groundbreaking innovation that laid the foundation for the company’s success. Since then, STAPP has built hundreds of shooting ranges throughout Sweden, as well as across large parts of Denmark, Norway, and the United States. The company has grown to become Scandinavia’s leading provider of shooting range construction and turnkey solutions, with expertise spanning both indoor and outdoor facilities.

Today, Stapp AB provides complete shooting range solutions – from planning and construction to service and maintenance. The company also supplies advanced electronic target systems and technical components to customers around the world, while continuing to lead the industry in innovation, quality, and sustainability.

With more than three decades of experience, Swedish engineering expertise, and a culture built on reliability, precision, and continuous improvement, Stapp AB continues to set the standard for the shooting ranges of the future – across Scandinavia and around the world.
